Dance with ME Winter Wonderland

My idea :

I want to put on an event in Liverpool that benefits ME Sufferers.
Dance with ME at our Winter Wonderland .

I want Liverpool to come together and support the ME community.
Picture this …. Silver & blue tones with iridescent sparkles light dispersed into hundreds of tiny twinkling colours .
Large table centre pieces with candles reflecting on mirrors below . Starched white table cloths . Polished glasses . White plates with silver flat wear just waiting to be piled high with food. Silver sparkles sprinkled around the table catching the light . Shapes of stars , Christmas trees , candy canes.

Evergreen foliage draped around the buffet table laden with the most exquisite bite size nibbles . Trays laid out for hot food cooking behind the scenes , yet tantalising our taste buds through smells catching on the breeze .
Male guests in Dinner Jackets , Ladies in long dresses . Faces hidden by Venetian masks .
Band tuning up on stage , just waiting to entertain with songs from the past . A dance floor just anticipating wheelchairs and high heels . A place for laughing and singing along to every word . DJ relaxing before his set to bring the music up to date . Wanting hands in the air for Scouse House Anthems.

A place to forget our pain , exhaustion no matter how hard it is all that can wait till tomorrow . We all know this night will cost us all dearly but surely we deserve one night . A night like we had before this illness destroyed our lives .
The Stage laiden with raffle prizes kindly donated by generous local companies . The best local restaurants offering vouchers in silver envelopes , promising of romantic meals for 2 . Family days out . Activity weekends of paintball , spa weekends with champagne and lunch. Cinema & Theatre tickets . VIP days at the Football . Auction prizes beautifully displayed only the best for our guests .

A time for everyone affected by ME to be together . Our carers , Husbands , Wives , Mothers , Fathers , Sisters , Brothers , Friends , Drs , Specialists , Local Press , Radio , People who can get our message , our fight to the forefront.

Instead of saying I’m OK for one night we can stand together , stand to make a difference , wheel our chairs together . Together we can bring about change , Together we can make a difference .

So I appeal to everyone in Liverpool to help. If you can help make this vision reality then please get in touch . All money raised will be divided between charities chosen by Friends with ME – North Liverpool .

People with ME/CFS have fatigue that is very different from just being tired. The fatigue of ME/CFS:

  • Can be severe.
  • Is not a result of unusually difficult activity.
  • Is not relieved by sleep or rest.
  • Was not a problem before becoming ill (not life-long)

Worsening of ME/CFS symptoms after physical or mental activity that would not have caused a problem before illness. This is known as post-exertional malaise (PEM).

Sleep problems.

Many but not all people with ME/CFS have other symptoms.

Pain is very common in people with ME/CFS. The type of pain, where it occurs, and how bad it is varies a lot. The pain people with ME/CFS feel is not caused by an injury. The most common types of pain in ME/CFS are:

  • Muscle pain and aches
  • Joint pain without swelling or redness
  • Headaches, either new or worsening

Some people with ME/CFS may also have:

  • Tender lymph nodes in the neck or armpits
  • A sore throat that happens often
  • Digestive issues, like irritable bowel syndrome
  • Chills and night sweats
  • Allergies and sensitivities to foods, odors, chemicals, light, or noise
  • Muscle weakness
  • Shortness of breath
  • Irregular heartbeat

Myalgic Encephalomyelitis does not have a cure.

Find a Dr or Consultant who listens to you is the first step

It is a manageable condition and depending on the severity of your symptoms the more difficult this can become.

I advise learning to listen to your body and what it is telling you. If you feel tired rest and if you feel pain find a solution to reduce that pain, this could be through pain medication prescribed by your Dr.

I am not saying that finding a Dr who listens or listening to your body is going to be easy as this illness is incredibly complex for some and manageable for others.

Having a Dr who listens to you or reads about the latest drug that sufferers are recommending can take a lot of unnecessary stress and anxiety from the sufferer.

It would be best for me to point you to the above question What is Myalgic Encephalomyelitis? 

Most pages list the illness as ME/CFS or Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome or sometimes even Systemic exertion intolerance disease (SEID).
